Cooper Gallegos developed a passion for the desert as a child when she spent summers in a one-room adobe in a small Mexican village. Twenty years later, as a young widow, she left Los Angeles with her two preteen sons and bought five acres with no water or electricity in the Mojave Desert, six miles from town. There, she found a home, a community and inspiration for a wealth of stories. Her work has been published in several anthologies.

Cooper divides her time between Santa Cruz, California and Chloride, Arizona where she lives with her partner and their two canine companions. She is currently at work on a novel, tentatively entitled, Chicken Coop Chronicles.
